Did you know that Python Contracting has built 13 Yurts?
8 at Pigeon Lake Provincial Park, 4 at Miquelon Lake Provincial Park and 1 for a private home owner who fell in love with the ones at Pigeon Lake.
What is a Yurt?
A yurt is traditionally a portable, circular structure made of flexible poles and covered in skins, felt or other fabric. Think of a large strong insulated tent. Yurts have been the primary style of home in Central Asia, especially Mongolia, for thousands of years.
Alberta Parks Yurts
The yurts we built for Alberta Parks are a more modern version of the tradition ones used for homes. These permanent yurts are still made with flexible lattice but covered with a thick tarp-like canvas material that is insulated and much warmer than a regular tent.
It all starts with a sturdy deck base which the structure is built on top of, add the lattice structure and finally the canvas on top. We built beautiful decks around each one, as well as a ramp for accessibility.
Alberta parks has furnished each yurt and supplied all your kitchen essentials. The 3 sizes can sleep 4, 6 or 8 people comfortably. All you have to do is bring your family, bedding and food!
Thinking of building a Guest Cabin on your property?
A yurt makes the perfect guest cabin, “she-shed” or cabin for your recreational property. Pick your perfect size, furnish it however you like and enjoy a low maintenance retreat.
For more information on having one of your own, contact Cody. We are located in Rimbey, Alberta and serve all of Central Alberta. If you are interested in checking them out, visit Pigeon Lake Provincial Park or Miquelon Lake Provincial Park and enjoy a comfort camping experience.
